Heavy landslide struck Nepal's mountain zone on Saturday early morning, 60 km  northeast of the capital Kathmandu.

50-60 houses are suspected to be swept away. Police and army officials retrieved eight bodies and airlifted 34 people to safety, including 19 who suffered serious injuries.Suspected, hundreds are still missing,

Debris from the landslide created a 110-metre (120-yard) deep lake, measuring at least three kilometres by 300 metres, which flooded two power stations and a hydropower plant before workers partially cleared the blockage.

Officials said, they are successful in allowing the water to flow slowly by carrying out minor explosions.  But , lower areas (below the blockage) are still at risk.

 A portion of the Araniko Highway, which connects the Himalayan nation with Tibet, had been closed. Koshi barrage near the India-Nepal border, to allow water to flow downstream and reduce flood risks.

Scores of people die every year from flooding and landslides during Nepal's monsoon season.
At least 75 people were killed in separate incidents in 2013 when heavy rains triggered floods that struck homes in the country's remote hilly western region and southern plains.
Nepal's landslide came as more than 150 people were feared dead in neighbouring India following a landslide which destroyed a village in western Maharashtra state earlier in the week.

ネパール、カトマンズより北東６０キロにある山間部にて、500mにわたる大規模な地滑りが発生し、集落が押し流された。少なくとも50以上の民家が流され、８人の死者が発見された。３４人はヘリーでカトマンズの病院へ運ばれ、100名以上は未だに不明のようです。

流れ出た土砂や瓦礫などによりスンコシ川がせき止められ、深さ110m、３キロにわたる巨大な湖が発生。これにより、水力発電所も大きな被害を受けた。

当局は、マイナー爆発を実施することにより、水をゆっくりと流すことに成功している、と述べた。しかし、下流の領域は依然として危険にさらされている。当局は、下流にすんでいる、少なくとも６つの地域に避難を呼びかけている。

安全のため、チベットとヒマラヤの国を結ぶアラニコ・ハイウェイの一部が閉鎖されている。また、洪水のリスクを低減するために、インド·ネパールの国境付近のコシ・ダムの水を抜く作業が行われている。

ネパールでは、モンスーンの季節に洪水や地滑りにより毎年多くが死亡している。2013年だけで、合計75人以上死亡しており、その甚大な被害はインドまで及ぶ。 先週の水曜日、隣接するマはラストラで発生した地滑りにより、少なくとも82人が死亡、130人は未だに行方不明となっているばかりです。

The debris has created a huge lake (110m in depth, 300m wide and 3km long). Officials are working hard to decrease the water level using minor explosions and  being successful up to some extend.

Still, the people living down streams are at risk. The government has warned the locals living aside by the rivers to evacuate and not to enter the area within 200meters.

The sudden collapse of the debris dam may cause a serious damage at the downstream in three districts of Nepal along with India. And if the flash flood happens, it may sweep away the Koshi dam, which may affect as much as 500 villages in Bihar, India.

土砂及び瓦礫により、スンコシ川がせき止められ、巨大な湖（水深100m、長さ3km、広さ300m）が出現している。当局は、爆発物を使用して水を流しだす作業にあたっている。

しかし、依然として下流域は大きいなリスクを抱えている。政府は、広大な地域にて避難勧告を出しており、水域200m以内に入らないよう警告している。

鉄砲水が発生した場合、ネパールを始めインドにも甚大な被害を及ぼす可能性が大きい。最悪の事態にコシ・ダムが流される可能性もあり、その際インドのビハール州の500以上の村が被害を受けるとされている。州政府は、住民の高台への避難を呼びかけている。
